"Now, pay attention, Ladies," the voice from the monitor instructed. The face on the screen was of a kindly gentleman in his twilight years. He wore a plain, white lab coat and adjusted the spectacles on his nose as he spoke.
"You each have very special talents that are of great value to us. I know that Agent Thompson has a rather gruff manner, and often scares the wits out of new Operatives. But rest assured, that the rest of us are delighted that you have decided to join our team. We have a lot of ground to cover, so let's get right to it. Before we begin, do either of you have any questions"?
"Yah," said Bev, "Mind if we call you 'Q'"?
The man smiled softly and waited for Bev to stop chuckling to herself.
"You are not the first to make that comparison and I'm sure you won't be the last... so, let's get started."
"Miss MacLean, we know that you are aware of some of your special abilities... but you may not be aware of their full extent. So far, we have determined that you are Empathic, Telepathic, and possibly even Psychokinetic. There are even some signs of your being Pyrokinetic. In addition to those psychic abilities... you are well trained in hand-to-hand combat and posses a genius level IQ. I'm just happy we recruited you before someone else did".
"Heh... it's not like I had much choice in the matter".
"Yes, well... Miss Mitchell, you also score in the genius range and have latent psychic abilities that you were probably unaware of. You are what we refer to as a Cyber Empath... that is, you relate to computers on a mental level that is beyond the ability of most humans. You can start with an idea, and intuitively know how to produce the code to achieve the desired result."
